I didn’t watch all of the Democratic National Convention — yawn — but I saw enough to know I didn’t miss anything. I heard Ted Kennedy’s speech, as well as Michelle Obama’s and Barack’s, and my initial response to all of it is this:  What a sham. These clever Dems know exactly what and what […]

LGF muses if this is the most sarcastic political ad ever. No doubt. I never thought I’d see Charleton Heston as Moses in a political ad, especially used as humor from the Right. This is McCain taking a direct hit on Obama’s uncanny ability to charm and mesmerize his audience in demigod-like fashion. Even […]

I love John Mauldin’s newsletters. I am not his typical fan, I’m sure, as I am not a venture capitalist and my investing doesn’t go much beyond an IRA. But I learned of him one day while reading Thrutch by Amit Ghate and have been enjoying Mr. Mauldin’s newsletters ever since.
This past week he had […]

Mark Steyn wrote one of the best articles I’ve read on Barack Obama and his former pastor, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. [Hat tip: Scott Shepherd]
Incidentally, if you missed hearing one of Wright’s fiery sermons, just search “Reverend Wright” at www.youtube.com and take your pick.
Steyn’s article, dated March 15th, opens with his observations on Rev. […]

Well, I was wrong. McCain won Florida’s delegates. And I’m surprised that Giuliani is expected to endorse McCain on Wednesday. The race in California will be close, and the winner will probably be whoever Schwarzenegger endorses, if he would endorse. LA Times writer, Evan Halper, reported Schwarzenegger won’t endorse anyone:
‘It doesn’t help me any, it […]

I admit, I am very disappointed in Giuliani’s campaign strategy. He started off with such a bang, ahead in all the national polls; but it looks like he’ll end with a whimper in Florida—his self-proclaimed ace in the hole.
I suppose a Giuliani GOP nomination was a tough sell to begin with because of his socially […]

I’ve learned not to expect consistency or depth of thought from politicians, with the usual exception of Ronald Reagan (peace be upon him.) But Rudy Giuliani impresses me every time I hear him speak, with his intelligence and level-headed optimism.
I know I am echoing some of Allison’s points from her earlier post on Giuliani’s […]

This opinion article in the LA Times seems somewhat alarmist, but it’s worth noting. I doubt Chavez has as much power to bring down the U.S. and world economy as the authors think. Still, I go on record to say that Venezuela is headed for bad times. Where there are dictators, there is violence.
You may […]

More on Rudy Giuliani…who gave an impressive speech to the Federalist Society on Nov. 16. How often do you hear candidates talk of “principles” or “American exceptionalism”?
Here’s a sample of his optimism:
I get very, very frustrated when I hear Americans talk about or hear certain Americans talk about how difficult the problems we face are, […]

O, swear not by the moon, the fickle moon, the inconstant moon, that monthly changes in her circle orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable. — Shakespeare
A few months back I wrote an article about the possibility of Giuliani being overlooked for the GOP nomination if the religious right conservatives have their way. Well, […]
